Files duplicating on selection

When I do a multiple file select with the ctrl key, the files selected start
duplicating, leaving mulitple copies every time I select them. Please help!

If they say something like "copy of xxxxx" it means you're jerking the mouse
slightly, which causes copies to be generated. If so, just delete the
copies & try again with less trembly hands.

Don't have a regular mouse. I have a logitech track ball and after selecting
I take my fingers off the ball. Perhaps I'm moving it a bit inadvertantly
when selecting. It's pretty sensitive. I will try to be more consciencious
and see if it makes a difference. Thanks.
