Files don't open when double-clicking in Windows Explorer

When I double-click on a file in Windows Explorer, the
application opens (such as Word) but the file does not.
If I right click on the file (still in Explorer) and use
the Open option, the file opens correctly. After reading
many of the posts, I'm thinking this is probably SP2
related. But, if this can be remedied, I would appreciate
any help. Have tried changed from double-click to single-
click in Options - didn't work. Switched to "Use Windows
classic folers" - didn't work. Thanks for any help. Cyd

Have you tried a System Restore back to a point before the problem started?

Hey Will,
I'm pretty sure this started with the installation of
SP2. I'm afraid if I go back before that point, things
will get really screwed up. Will they?
