Files are Changing Icons by themselves

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing some very strange behavior with Windows XP Pro.
(SP2). Icons for a certain file extension are changing to other random
icons by themselves. One of them has changed to a notepad icon, one has
changed to an Access database icon, etc.

I have right clicked the file and looked it its properties. The correct
application still opens the file. The properties dialog also shows the
correct icon and correct program for opening the file. I have gone into
the files and folders -> filetypes in Control Panel, and everything
looks normal.

These are also not shortcuts. The extension is .sldprt for a program
called Solidworks.

Anyone have any idea of what could be causing this?

Thanks

Try deleting the IconCache.db file and reboot. It could be corrupted.
It should rebuild. It's in the C:\Documents and Settings\<User
Name>\Local Settings\Application Data folder.
