Files and Settings Transfer Wizard Hangs

I have connected my old Win98 computer with the new computer and am using
the XP Pro disk in the old computer to load the transfer wizard there. It
seems like the two computers just can't find each other. Any tips to make
this work?
 
What are you using to provide the interface between the two machines? Are
you trying to access the old system from your new one or vice-versa?
