I have been trying to move files and programs from my old computer to my new
XP machine uing the built in files and settings transfer. I save the
transfer file into a folder on the old machine but the new machine says that
there is an error with this file. What can I do to resolve this problem??

Thanks

What version of Windows is on the old machine? If it is Windows XP
you should not repeat not use the version of FASTW on that machine.
Rather you should run FASTW on the new machine to create a Wizard Disk
(use a USB Memory Stick if either or both machines do not have 3.5
diskette drives) and then use that Wizard Disk on the old machine to
save the data.

If your old machine is not running Windows XP then you must have used
the Wizard Disk approach and therefore something else has gone amiss.

The version of FAST must be the same on both computers. If you have
installed some of the optional Windows updates on one of the computers the
versions may be different. I find the best way is to run the FAST wizard
from the XP CD on both computers to ensure the same version is used. Another
common problem is when selecting the folder on the new computer do not
select the actual file but the folder the file is saved in. Here is a very
good walk through for using FAST.
