HELP! I am new to FrontPage. I took over my website from the previous author.
I made changes to my website in FrontPage and when I published the site I
kept getting messages like: ".htaccess exists on the destination but not on
the source, do you want to delete the file from the destination?" I answered,
"No" but when I got so many of these messages, I meant to click on "No to
all" but instead I clicked on "Yes, to all". Now they are gone and I can't
view my website on the Internet.
Other files that were deleted were: all the" _vti_" files; index.html; all
the "logs" files; etc.
I don't know what some of these files do. Can I recreate them in FrontPage?

Have you got any backups at all? You can re-create most files if you
have any backups. The starting point is index.htm (or index.html)
file. This file tells you where everything is including links etc.

Contact your host and see if they can restore the site from a backup.

I assume you have made a back up of these files on your computer? Just
republish the site.

If it's an FTP site, then _vti* files should not be there, and it does not
matter if they are gone.
I have never known FrontPage to delete a .htaccess file except when
publishing to a Windows server. Windows servers do not use .htaccess
files.

If the remote site had FrontPage extensions, then re-install the
extensions, and NEVER use FTP again. Publish using a location similar to
http://www.example.com (replace www.example.com with your own domain).

If your local site is still intact, republish it.
