Hi, all --
I have a new Compaq running XP and and old Compaq running
Win 95 (an old version) with IE 3.02 and Internet Mail &
News 4.70. Both the floppy drive and CD-ROM drive on the
old computer do not work. The old computer also has
neither a USB port nor an Ethernet card. I would like to
transfer some of the word processing and mailbox files
from the old machine to the new one.
I tried to use the FastWiz program; I successfully made
the disk on the new machine, then e-mailed the files to
the other machine, but when I run it on the old machine
it immediately gives me an error message that it won't
run with IE 3.02. My other option seems to be to zip the
files and e-mail them to myself -- I did this with one of
the smaller .mbx files -- but this will not be an option
with a couple of larger (30-60MB) files as I have only a
33k modem on one machine and a 56k modem on the other. I
do also have a serial cable, of course.
I don't think I'm handy enough to remove the hard drive
from the old machine and set it up as a drive on the new
one.
Sooooooo.... does anyone have any words of wisdom?
Thanks in advance,
Julie
