File Synchronize

I have a lab of computers i just loaded with windows XP pro and when the
students log in and log out it synchronizes there directories from the hard
drive to the network. Is there anyway I can disable this so it goes
directly to the network?

I suppose I should clarify that I want to do this from the registry level.
