Hi all, i was at a mates house ages ago and had 'my
documents' folder shared out so he could grab some files
from my computer.

Last night i only noticed that i still had the share
enabled so i did the old 'right click' and turned it off.

To my horror, now when i go into the 'my documents' folder
on my desktop, its empty! Whats weirder is that the size
of my hard drive is no different. Yesterday i had 6gig
free, now after all these files are supposedly gone, i
still have 6gig free. The my documents folder was about
3gig in size so the files must be around somewhere.

Only when i do a search for some of the files using their
names nothing is found, only the shortcut to it in
the 'recent files' folder

Has anyone else seen this, im not totally peeved off as
there is some stuff i can recreate such as invoice PDF
files etc but there is alot of stuff that i would prefer
to still have!

any advice appreciated

have you looked in the recycle bin?

Dave

Have you checked it with Administrator rights? You may have REALLY unshared
the subfolders.

Yep, the single login on this machine is local admin.

Hi.
I suppose you have looked everywhere(?) I think that if you shared your
documents, than these documents became a part of Shared Documents folder
located directly under My Machine, don't they?
When you "unshared" them, did they then revert to the original folder?
-or maybe they can be found under Documents and settings for ALL users?
