File Save As options 'jpg' lost?

From Internet Explorer 'File Save As' utility, I am not getting the 'jpg' filetype as an option. Only 'bmp'. When the File Save As window comes up there is a drop down at the bottom of the control for 'types'. When I select it only shows bmp. Even if I enter the filename with a jpg extension, the utility saves as name.jpg.bmp and really does convert the jpg to a bmp. It used to provide the 'jpg' option as well. It doesn't matter what directory I am saving to or what image I am trying to save. All jpg's from the web will only save as bmp.
This constraint only occured recently. I have already gone into the Folder Types / Files Types option and created the association to IE, but that didn't help. There are two other clues that I have. One is that I got impatient with start up time recently and went into 'Add Remove' and stupidly deleted some programs that didn't look necessary. AND... my wife was on the computer recently.
Seriously, anyone have an idea on how to restore 'jpg' as a filetype in Save As option??? Please!!!

Delete your Temporary Internet Files (from Tools > Internet Options General tab)
