MS Paint v5.1

Hi

It seems that images scanned into MS Paint are BMP format. I know that BMP
files can be saved as JPG files. Is it possible to scan images into MS
Paint as JPG files (instead of BMP files) ?

Thanks
Steve

Yes. However, you'll need the graphic filters being installed with MS
Office or its components. Installing any MS Works Suite *may* work as
well.

I scan a monthly calendar, edit it, then upload it to a website. If I
need to edit the calendar, I edit the bmp, then save as jpg and upload
the updated jpg. The reason it's done this way? A jpg is a lossy
format. Every time you edit and save a jpg again, it's converted and
more resolution is lost; the colors blend together, and the Fill
operation no longer works, among other problems. Saving as a bmp, every
pixel retains its original color.

Sorry, I meant to reply to the OP.

Can you elaborate on this?

Personally I don't care what Paint *scans* images as; as long as it can
*save* them as JPGs, why does the distinction matter? It's not like it even
creates a .BMP file first and then you have to run some conversion
process...Scan, Save As, change the type, OK, you're done.
