In the XP Explore file manager (not Internet Explorer), in the filmstrip
view, is there a way to not display the blue window on the left that says
"Picture Tasks", "File & Folder Tasks", "Other Places", etc.? I would like
the filmstrip across the bottom of the screen to cover the entire width of
the screen.

Hi,

The filmstrip view is only available when you have the common tasks pane
enabled. Therefore, no, you cannot disable the common tasks and have the
filmstrip cover the width of the screen.

Darn, it seems like a design error to me.

Sorry Bob, but it is what it is. If you'd like to suggest a design change,

In Control Panel - System - Advanced - in Performance click Settings -
in Visual Effects custom pane, near the bottom, uncheck 'Show Common
tasks in Folders' and Apply
