File Listings

Windows Explorer listings are significiently different than My Computer.

Word 2003 - looking for a file it goes to Windows Explorer which does not
have a complete listing of .doc files

Word uses some files as 'templates' which are system, or hidden files. You
can search for and/or set the system to view these by default.

I do not understand how dozens of files can be seen in Windows Explorer and
not in
My Computer.
Furthermore why when Word defaults to looking for a file in the same
directory as My Computer where 98% are missing
