File Format & Runtime Decisions

Have a home inventory database which I intend to deploy with ACCESS 2003
runtime. Need to decide whether to deploy in ACCESS 2002/2003 rather than
2000 file format, and also whether to use install /runtime option so it
always opens in runtime (from installed shortcuts) even if retail ACCESS is
present. My preference is for later file format and /runtime; have fully
tested it in runtime and feel it is robust. The application has been
developed in ACCESS 2000 file format throughout (so I assume it has no ACCESS
2002/2003 specific features (?), and a related consideration is conversion to
..mde via ACCESS 2000 or 2002/2003.

Any views gratefully received; TIA.

I believe Access Developer Extensions (the runtime that comes with Visual
Studio Tools for Office 2003) will allow you to distribute either file
format, but Access 2003 can only create an MDE if the MDB is in 2002/2003
format.

Do note that while it will install on systems older than Win 2000 SP3
and Win XP the Access 2003 runtime will not run on Win 95, 98, ME or
NT 4.0.
