Access Runtime

Hello,

I just had a quick question about Access Runtime. I have a database
which I have built and I would like to distribute it to a few users.
I split the database and made an mde file for the front end. I then
put a copy of this mde file on each users work station with the back
end on the server. Each of the work stations I put the MDE on has
Access Runtime installed on it because these workstations already run
another database. The install of runtime and the other database were
done before my time here. What I am wondering is if Runtime only
needs to be installed on the machine once or if it needs to be
packaged with every DB that is on the machine. After copying the MDE
file to the workstation and double clicking it, I get an error message
stating that I have an "unrecognizable format". I understand about
runtime having issues when using different versions of office but I do
know that we are running office 2003. Thanks in advance for any tips
regarding using runtime.

Thanks,

John.

When using runtime (and otherwise for that matter) it's best to create a
proper shortcut

target:
<path to msaccess.exe> <path to database> /wrkGrp<path to system.mdw>

Hi Peter,

I've seen some posts on this. Would I just create this in the
properties of the file and include a portion to launch runtime?

Thanks for the help,

John

Installing the runtime once is all that is required.

But maybe the runtime is A2000 or A2002. Right click on the
msaccess.exe found on the work station and determine the version
number. It should be 11.something to be the A2003 runtime.
