File Folders will not open

When clicking on a FOLDER, the search box opens. I have determined that
somebody change the settings in
Folder Options -> File Types -> Folder.

But I am not sure how to go about getting it back to normal.
Any suggestions?

I recently downloaded photos from my camera into the MyPictures folder. I
noticed late that the pictures had multiplied. When I tried to delete them.
they kept multiplying. If there a setting in windows XP that pertains to
making copies of deleted files?
