File folder opening delays

I'm looking for help. I had installed SP 2 and then uninstalled it because I
thought it was what was causing delays in opening folders. My computer takes
more than 10 seconds sometimes to open a folder. For example, if I do a
"save as" it can take over 10 seconds at each level of the hierarchy. Does
anyone have some thoughts for me? I've done disk cleanup and defrag and they
haven't helped. I'm hoping I don't have to rebuild this whole thing!

Which AV are you using? Some do a virus scan prior to opening and closing
various apps, Word docs in particular etc & have a learning curve where the
AV works fine in the beginning, buts get sluggish as time progresses.
Just an idea, but something I've experienced before - particularly the AV
which begins with an 'N'
