File Error: Some Data May Be Lost

Regarding this error, have checked Google and found a number of posts with
few replies.

This error occurs on startup, with or without macros enabled. Further, the
problem is specific to one machine (only) loading from a network drive. The
file is Modification password protected, and the error causes the standard
dialog for "enter password or select read-only" to be bypassed.

This is a 7MB file loaded on a system using XL2000 on top of Office97. This
approach works for other machines, but not one specific one.

Possible driver problem?

Any ideas from the assembled gurus would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Alex

Hi,

Sometimes it helps to log in as a different user on the
same machine. If that makes a difference, try removing the
user from the system.

Jan Karel,

Thanks for your reply. We tried a couple permutations of your suggestion
today. Problem persists, thinking is that a combination of user setup and
network access/security protocols might be at fault.

Any other ideas??

Regards,
Alex
