File disappears for no apparent reason

The shared file is renamed daily with the days date (29
July 03.xls). It seems to randomly disappear and then a
non-xls file appears with a name, (such as 6CE4E000). Type
of file is simply "file".
WHY??
It's a shared and protected file. Normally this occurs
when one person closes it and another person opens it on
the same PC....possibly the reason...not sure.

I am experiencing similar problem. In my case, the Excel
file is accessed via a network share by two or more users
at different times. When the file is saved after
modification it automatically renames itself to some hex
value with no extension i.e. 0B1C5BD0 or 0F81DBD0. It's
very bizarre. Any Ideas???
