File delete doesn't make disk space available

I was scanning pictures when I recieved a message that the hard drive was
full. I deleted about 25gb of files and began to scan again. I quickly got
another message that the drive was full. I checked Windows Explorer and
Properties for the Drive I was using to store the scanned pictures (not the
C: drive). The files I deleted were gone but Properties showed that the
drive was full. How do I make the space that had been occupied by the
deleted files available?

Thanks,

Do you have Norton System Works installed on your computer? If
so, take a look in the Norton Protected Recycle Bin and see if
your deleted files are there.

I deleted two files that were about 12gb each. When I deleted them there was a message that they were too large for the recycle bin and Did I want to delete them permanently. I clicked yes. There is a folder on the drive named RECYCLER. It is empty. I do have SystemWorks. Does it have a separate Recycle Bin? If so, how do I empty it? Thanks again.

I don't use System Works, I've only seen it on other computers.
Consult the users guide on the System Works CD for info on the
Norton Recycle bin. You can also check on the Symantec Support
site.
