File date is not updating in Windows Explorer

I have recently encountered a problem when updating files. For example, I
have just added another row to a table and typed in some text. No hyperlinks
or graphics. I saved the file and closed it down but it is still showing as
18/05/06 19:33 in Windows Explorer. However, if I double click the .htm file
the web page shows the changes I have made. The problem is that, when I
upload the changes to the web server using FTP Commander (I've always done it
that way) the files do not get updated. Presumably, FTP Commander sees that
the date hasn't changed from what the web server is holding and thinks that
nothing's changed.

I tried repairing Front Page - no luck. I then uninstalled it and
reinstalled it. No luck there either.

This only affects Front Page 2002. Office 2003 is fine.

The only workaround I have at the moment is to save the file as filename2,
delete filename and then rename filename2 to filename. What a pain!!

Kind regards

Tony

Are you making these changes from within FP?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I am updating from within FP. Perhaps a little history of this site
will help. It started out life as a vert simple site using HTML is Notepad.
As things got more complicated I start using FP to edit it. I didn't actually
set up a new web in FP.

Since submitting my post I have now found out how to import a website into
FP and all seems to be working well now. I am, however, still a little
curious why FP should suddenly stop updating file timestamps.

Unles the answer is very easy, please consider this matter now closed as I
suspect that I was the problem rather than FP.

Kind regards.
