File Copy Speed

I have a new XP machine 2.6 GHZ with 80 gig 7200 drive. I also have a
Win 2K machine 1.6 Ghz 40 Meg 5400 drive. When I copy a file 1.6 GB from a
central server on a wired 100 MBS ethernet connection it takes 2 minutes on
the Win 2K box and 25 minutes on the XP box. Any ideas?

It would seem that your network connections on the XP box are set up
incorrectly. Since you didn't give any information about the network
(domain, how many servers, etc.) I'd guess that your dns is set up
wrong, but that would have to be just a guess.
