I receive e-mail spreadsheet, open it in excel, make
corrections, save it to my desktop, then send it as an
e-mail attachment. The receiver cannot open it (myself
included, I send myself a copy) The error message I receive
"FILE CANNOT BE ACCESSED. THE FILE MAY BE READ ONLY,OR MAY
BE TRYING TO ACCESS READ ONLY LOCATION. OR, THE SERVER THE
DOCUMENT IS STORED ON MAY NOT RESPONDING." If I make a
spreadsheet and send it via e-mail I get an error message
"FILE FORMAT IS NOT VALID"
I use windows XP, netscape is my e-mail. E-trust is my
virus protector and I have zone alarm.
I have tried everyting I can think of to open the files.
Now I get a message that excel tried to repair the file,
but it unrepairable.

Hi,

AFAIK you have to close the file in Excel before sending
the file. Otherwise the file you send will be marked as
being "In Use" and you'll get the message you described.

Look at my post of Nov 17, from me, GW about Windows XP
and Excel.

It is more related to network issues but it sounds about
the same. Let me know on (e-mail address removed) please if it
works.
