File Block Since Installation of Office 2003 Service Pack 3

I’ve been trying to open a file in Word 2003. I keep getting a prompt, “you
are attempting to open a file that was created in an earlier version of
Microsoft Office. The file type is blocked from opening this version by your
registry policy setting.â€

This is the first time I am experiencing this problem. I recently upgraded
to Office 2003 and installed its Office 2003 Service Pack 3. Is there anyway
that I can go about enabling the file.

Thanks

See "Information about certain file types that are blocked after you install

Suzanne, thanks for prompt response to my inquiry.
One more question...
So as not to download the wrong file, could it be, "Office File Converter
Pack" for download? This download provides file converters and image filters
for Microsoft Office programs, from Microsoft Office 97 to Microsoft Office
2003.

Thanks in advance for your help.

No, you want the download offered in the KB article, which changes the
Registry. The first one is for Word. Did you actually look at the article?

Suzanne, thank you so much for your help. I tried the last attempt and it
worked.

Cheers
