File Associations

Hi,

Simple question I think. I have tried to change the file associations
for XML files and related XML file types in Windows Explorer so that
they are associated with an XML editting and development environment.
After I have selected each file type and have associated them with the
program I am working with, they correctly appear associated as
intended. I can close the file association screen and reopen it and
the correct associations are still there, but when I work with XML,
XSLT files and save them, the association icon remains associated with
Visual Studio.NET, which was the program they were associated with
prior to trying to change the file associations.

Any ideas,
Al

If this is ONLY to change the ICON: Open Windows Explorer or My Computer. Click the
Tools menu, then click Folder Options, then click the File Types tab. Click on the file
extension that you want to change the icon for, then click the Advanced button. When the
Edit File Type window opens click on the Change Icon button. When the Change Icon window
opens click the Browse button and find the .exe file for the program that you want the
icon for. (Usually the .exe file for the program contains the program's icons) Then
click the OK button, and all the OK buttons on the open windows, and the APPLY and OK
button on the remaining window.
