File Association

I'm making some progress on using my favorite Sound Recorder to play my
WAVES.

I've associated WAVES with Sound Recorder.

I've changed the icon for my WAVES to the Sound Recorder icon.

Sound Recorder opens when I click a wave.

But i still have to press the PLAY button on the Sound Recorder.
And I still have to press the "X" to close the player after the WAVE
finishes.

I've tried to edit the Default, but I can't find the right command.

I am trying to, when I click a wave, have Sound Recorder OPEN, then PLAY the
wave without further input from me, then CLOSE the program without further
input from me.

Does anyone have any additional ideas for me ?

In "Edit File Type", "Play" is boldfaced with the "Application used to
perform action" as "C\~\sndrec32.exe" %1

Any ideas as to what I should add ?

You could try and see what happens when you change the 1 to a 0.

Windows Media Player will play wave files automatically when you
double-click on them if you associate WMP with them. You'll still have to
close it, though.

You could try and see what happens when you change the 1 to a 0.

Why do you think that would have any effect at all on what he's trying to
do? You obviously don't know what the %1 means.

Might try adding the close switch at the end of the command line:
"C:\~\sndrec32.exe" %1 /close

I changed the "1" to a "0" in the "play" with no change in the program. I
also changed the "1" to a "0" in the "open" with no change. Good thought,
though.

I could, but I can't even get it to play after it opens, much less close.

I may end up trying that, though I was so used to the instant opening of
Sound Recorder.

It just seems that unfortunately, the commands that worked on 98 won't work
on XP.

sndrec32.exe /Play "%L" /Close

The above line of text will cause a double-click on
"file.WAV" to open "Sound Recorder", then PLAY "file.WAV",
then CLOSE "Sound Recorder".
