File and App Migration?

Dear readers:
I came across this article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457074.aspx

How do I migrate files and applications from an old computer (Windows XP) to
a new computer

(Windows Vista or the upcoming Windows 7)? What I want to do is similar to
a system restore

which puts into place all of my files, applications, and settings (including
registry settings)

that were on the old computer onto the new computer. Is this possible?
Also, if I get a 64-bit

system as the new system, will this impact the process since my current
computer is 32-bit? I

have a Windows Home Server, will that ease the process?

Sincerely,
penciline
