Anonymous brings up an interesting point. It would be
interesting to know how much time the average PC user
spends keeping his computer clean.

I couldn't agree more with plun. With some proper
preventive measures you shouldn't have to spend much time
cleaning up garbage.
I know I don't. The only manual things I do are running
anti-virus and anti-spyware as soon as possible after a
new definitions update. Otherwise everything runs in the
background.
Maybe I'm lucky ... but I believe that luck favors the
well-maintained computer.

No this is NOT luck. PCs need some maintenance.

This should be a blocked startpage for everyone these days.

This is not so difficult.

I am spending some time for a short period with this NG
beacuse I am so
damned bored helping other people with there messed up PC:s.

This weekend when all are going to pay there monthly bills
with online banking
it will be calls for help. ;(

I really want MSAS to be a success. Step nr 4 !

And as I have written before let IDG group and other media
distribute SP2 and MSAS within
there magazines to really speedup this process.
But someone at MS wants to have control over
everything........ ;(

So, it could NOT have been from Bill since he uses a newsreader to view
this NG. Interesting enough though, it matches the same info from
"anonymous". So, we have to assume that this poster is now attempting to
impersonate Bill. And a pitiful poor attempt it is.
BTW, MS *can* get the IP address of the poster since "it" signed on with
a .Net passport.

any of those hundered users do an occasional virus or
spyware scan? if so, take those labor hours and add them
up.

They don't do any of that - I control all of that from a central tool or
Group policy.

Well the post's are from a while back but I've used several OS'es from
back in the 80's up to now and the message is clear all the same. If you
have difficulty reading, writing, learning, some math skills, and
understanding patience a computer probably shouldn't be in your home. I
guarantee when it comes to setting up a PC compatible with basic computer
knowledge you'll have way more fun trying to set up Linux, beOS, and the
like for your computing needs. No OS is entirely "idiot proof "(so to
speak). Windows, believe it or not, really isn't quite as difficult as some
of the other OS'es avalible. Try to install a different OS when it comes to
food for thought. Mark.
