Faxing Word Docs

J

John Wright

I am creating a fax server to process files from our mainframe. These files
will merge with a word document to create the final product. When I send a
fax and the body is a word document, word opens and prints to the fax
printer then shuts down. How can I send a .doc file as a fax body without
word opening every time. This server will be processing up to 400 faxes a
day and the time it takes to open work and print the documents to fax will
cripple this server. If this cannot be done, then is there a PCL file
converter for Visual Basic that will convert the PCL file to Tiff so I can
send it?

Thanks.

The way the files are converted to fax documents are by invoking a print
application. Your fears are unfounded - the time penalty if not terribly
great. This works for me without an issue and the machine I'm using is not a
really powerful one - PIII 700 desktop box with 4 fax modems.
