I have an all in one, printer, scanner, copier. I am
wondering if I add a fax to this, will I have to have
another telephone line added since I am on dialup now. Or
is it that the fax will pick it up if dialed to this
number and see that it is a fax. Hope this makes some
kijnd of sense.

You can't use a single phone line for Fax and internet dial-up at the
same time. But a single phone line can be used for both services
alternately. (End the internet session, send a fax, start another
internet session.)

And there's no way that I'm aware of for something to know when the
phone rings whether or not the incoming call is a fax. Generally, you
have to know when a fax is coming in, and tell your fax program to
answer the phone.

Your phone company may offer the use of a second number on the same phone
line. When set up, the second number will have a distinctive ring (ie. 2
short rings) which your fax machine can be setup to recognize. I am
currently using this feature. Costs about $5 per month.
