Fax Status in Fax Monitor

B

Bruce

Does anybody know of a way to monitor the status of a
receiving fax line in the Fax Service Manager? My
scenario, we have a total of 8 lines. A user calls our
main phone number, the phone line rings and rings but
never picks up. The Status on line 1 in the Fax Service
Manager shows receiving, if it was truly receiving then
there should be a busy signal and should roll to line two.
So the phone line thinks that line one is open but the Fax
Service Manager Software thinks that line 1 is busy
receiving a fax. Somehow I would like to have some
monitoring tool where I can set a threshold, if receiving
line is receiving for (X) period of time trigger alarm.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am looking for some type of service to trigger on or a
third party app, something to manage the fax service
manager so to say. I need some way to manage the status
of a fax line. I need to know when the status on a fax
line is continuously in the receiving mode say for over 15
minutes. It's a weird situation because when this happens
our phone line rings and rings. It won't pick up or roll
to another line I have to stop and restart the service.
Canceling the receiving fax job just changes the status to
canceling it never changes the status to Idle. So thats
when I have to stop, restart the service. You know the
rest then I get calls saying they can't receive faxes.

Any help much appreciated,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

It sounds like what would work in this case is something like a device to make sure the voice
calls are not tangled with fax. There are several products that can do this. Your local
electronics/computer store will have these devices that will allow the voice calls to come in so
you never miss them. This sight explains a little about their device to give you an idea on
some capabilities of such devices. Not recommending this device, just the info on this page
might help you decide if this will work for you.
