My sister is running Windows XP and her fax used to work well, now it seems
to be corrupt or something. When trying to send ,it says that the fax is
not reponding. What can we do to repair it . We do n ot have the XP disc. It
did not come with the pc Thanks for your help

Many vendors will create a repair directory on your harddrive enstead of
providing a separate XP disk. Look for a directory called: i386
Then go to: Start>Control Panel>lefthand side Add or Remove Windows
Components>FAX Services
Direct the add feature to the i386 directory. Good luck. :~)

You may want to test by removing the fax hardware in safe mode then reboot
and it may correct the corrupt drivers.

Also, you can get the 6 mon. XP CD for $5

You will find much more info at:

You DO need help! After you check the FAX Services block, do you see a
button below that named "Next"? Click it and follow the prompts. It will
ask you to insert your XP CD or another place (browse) where to find the files
on your harddrive if you do not have the XP CD.
In your case it should be i386 wherever you have it located. To locate it -
Click Start>Search>Files and Folders>type i386 and click Search
Should find several copies of it.
C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32
Maybe under - C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles

What kind of crappy replies are you posting. What does microsoft trial
software have to do with this problem? FAX Services is an inherent feature
of WindowsXP not a trial version. You either want it or not. Many apps
installing printers, scanners or cameras also have a feature to FAX. Either
provide sober assistance or go back to eating mudbugs.

Has your sister recently changed from a dialup connection to broadband?..

You remove hardware AFTER powering the machine DOWN, not while in Safe
Mode.. if the OP removes fax software in any mode, and then reboots, the
only likely outcome is that the computer starts up without the benefit of
installed fax software..

Oh how brave boys are behind a keyboard who have never stood toe to toe with
a man...only have stood up to a woman or a keyboard...you can tell with a
forum answer how bad and brave a keyboard boy is...do you feel big now?

Like Mama's big boy?

You must impress a lot of girls with your bad answers. I am sure some girl
will reply to you in a dingy manner agreeing with you but not your ole'
schoolmates who thought you were too effeminate - qualities or
characteristics more often associated with women.

Dear Miss Perspicacia Dick,

You ever wonder why you are still a fat Miss? Cause you are too stupid to
be a leader and follow those Mama's boys around. Sorry you will never find
a real intelligent man - but on the other hand..what about your girl
friends? Do they think you are special?

How close are you to Michael Jackson? Similar?

Dear Miss Perspicacia Dick,

Why hasn't it crossed your mind why we Americans are so much smarter than
the British?
