Fax number with extension

Hi folks..

I am having a lot of problems sending faxes via the fax
console in WIN XP.
I am trying to send a fax to a fax number where an
extension number has to be entered such as: press '1' for
voice mail, press '2' for fax.

Does anybody know how I have to enter to fax number
correctly to get to the correct extension?

example fax number: 02517 2641 extension 2

really appreciate your kind assistance...

with best regards

Tak

This is only a guess, because I don't have fax installed here, but
usually the comma (,) inserted into a dialing string represents a pause
of, IIRC, 2 seconds. Try this: dial the number manually; time how long
it takes for the call to be answered plus how long it is before you can
effectively press "2" to connect with the fax machine. Sometimes you
can press the number right away, and sometimes you have to listen to the
entire introductory message. For example, suppose that the call is
always picked up on the second ring, or in about 5 seconds and that
after listening to the message for an additional 3 seconds, you can
press 2 and get the fax. That's a total of 8 seconds delay after the
initial dialing, so enter the following as your fax number to dial:
025172641,,,,,2 (that's 5 commas, for a 2 second extra delay).

You will have to experiment a bit. Don't put in too much delay, because
the answering system may have a default action if it doesn't get a
response after a specified time.
