Fax Console doesn't detect the LAN connection

Fax Console cannot detect my Local Area Network connection.
It is trying to send the fax to my 56k modem (which is not
and cannot be plugged!).

I can't create a new device manually either.

Help very much appreciated.

To send a fax the console uses a modem to dial out. Read the help files in the FAX
console program.

The Help file says that Fax will automatically detect the
device thanks to Plug and Play . It didn't. I even tried to
plug in and out my LAN connection, just to make sure.

What do you think the next step should be?

I misunderstood. I assumed you were using the fax console included in Windows. Have
you checked the manufacturer's web site for support documents?

You are actually right. It is the windows XP Fax Console.

I have looked through the help index, and searched all I
could about configuring the Fax, adding a device ... but
the problem persists.

I think I need to either be shown a menu which I have not
seen yet, or guided step-by-step on how to create a new
device in Fax Console when the plug-and-play doesn't work.
Would you se another solution?

cheers

Fax uses phone lines, not the Internet.
Your answer was posted.
You need a phone line and an analog fax modem. A LAN is not in play here.
If you have no phone line, you need to hire an Internet Fax Service. You
cannot use Windows XP Fax.
