To add Favorite Folder to the folders, the help topic says:

---------

Turning Favorite Folders on and off does not affect the folders in the list.
If you have folders listed in Favorite Folders when you turn the feature off,
those folders will be there when you turn it back on again.

On the View menu, point to Navigation Pane, and click Favorite Folders to
uncheck it.
Click Favorite Folders again to turn the feature back on.

Not true: 2007 with SP1 (which was just installed before the problem came up,
but I'm not certain if it was at that moment as I had not noticed the
deletion of the fav. folder after the upgrade.

And you are also in the Mail Navigation and not in the Folder List
Navigation?
Otherwise, post a screenshot somewhere as this option cannot simply "go
missing".

Ah, that's it. I wasn't aware of the two options, and am still not sure what
the difference is between the lists.

Actually, I don't know how it got switched to Folder List, though I have had
to re-set the "view" of my outlook after upgrades have been installed.

Thanks for the help.

The Mail Navigation only shows folders containing mail items. The Folder
List Navigation also shows the Calendar, Contacts, Notes, etc... folder.
