I don't. I have nothing on my desktop except for things I am currently
working on.

I put app/web shortcuts in folders. The folders are named appropriately
for the types of app shortcuts; e.g., Audio-Visual, Graphics, Games,
Web, etc. I then make toolbars on a taskbar (I have three) for those
folders. See "Taskbars & Toolbars" in my dandies below for more info
and screen shots.

possibilities [there are tons of similar programs out there].:

this possible? Choose from among a wide selection of information
conduits (MS Outlook, toolbars, newsfeeds), called ´panels.´
Fully customizable, Desktop Sidebar allows you to dock these panels to
the edge of the screen, or arrange them anywhere on your desktop as you
wish. All panels are configurable with a number of specific options.

Menu. For example, the Internet programs can be put into the "Internet"
category, while all games can be included in the "Games" category.
Thus, after using the program, you will have a compact menu, which will
contain nothing but categories' names.
Therefore, it will be no trouble to find a necessary program.

PopSel 2.12 or Qsel 1.03 may be what you are looking for.

They're excellent and useful small utilities imho. The format of the
menu files is the same, so you can try both programmes easily. All you
have to do is change the extensions. Qsel: *.qsl; PopSel: *.lst.
