favorites icons

Why do the icons shown next to my favorites keep reverting to the Windows
general webpage icon? Is there anything I can do to stop this issue, aside
from manually re-assigning my favorites?

Favicons are only temporary until cleared from your cache.
To make them permanent:

Hi,
Programs such as FavOrg should be unnecessary with IE7 in Vista. Favicons
should display reliably so long as the Temporary Internet Files and/or
History aren't being cleared frequently. Clearing the TIF and History once
to get a fresh start may be beneficial.
