Favorites not working

All favorites stopped working in IE6. The icons are generic Windows
application icons. Clicking on any favorite does nothing. Adding a new
favorite has the same result, a defualt icon and a non working link. System
is clear of any viruses, trojans, spyware, etc. Can't find anything like
this in support so I'm hoping someone here may have run into this problem
before. This particular PC is used for business only and all the links are
very important which is why I'm trying to get them back. Thanks in advance
for anything you can give me.

Basically, export your Favorites using IE's Tools...Import/Export, delete
the user's Favorites folder, restart and a new one will be created, then
import your Favorites back.

If no joy, your Internet Shortcut (.url) file association may be incorrect
