Shawn,

The favorites Shell Folder is set incorrectly in the registry. Open Registry Editor and goto:

HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
Set the Favorites path to : %USERPROFILE%\Favorites

Restart Internet Explorer. The Shell Folders value will update automatically and changes to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Favorites.

Jonathan,

The entries were set correctly and becomes empty after a reboot? And, are you using any software from your ISP. We've seen Earthlink's program causes Favorites path to change automatically to earthlink's favorites folder. Using any program of that sort?

Currently using SBC Yahoo! DSL for ISP, but did have
Earthlink 3-4 years ago. Never had the issue until about
2 weeks ago, but yes the registry settings are as directed
and when I close IE6 and re-start it, the Favorites are
gone.

A re-check of the registry setting indicates those are
still intact, but my Favorites folder is empty.

DSL has some self-diagnostic software for internet
connection that I'm using, but I didn't have the problem
right away or even immediately after I upgraded to IE6,
which was done after DSL install.

Well, I have a zip file of all my desired favorites and
everytime my favs has been emptied (even during our chat),
I have extracted those files to the favorites in Windows
and everytime I shut IE down, that folder is emptied. I
even tried adding them via the Favorites > Add to
Favorites command in IE and still they were emptied upon
shut down of IE.

Did you see my other post regarding Zone Alarm software?

Jonathan,
Possibly the "Favorites" folder is corrupt?
When viewing the folder in Windows Explorer
C:\Windows\Favorites is it showing as a "special folder"?
Should look like a little star .......

If corrupted you may need to restart in Dos Mode and
delete the folder and let Windows recreate it on Startup.
