"Favorite Folders" resets every time I close Outlook 2003

I've added folders to the Favorite Folders pane and then when I close Outlook
it's back to the standard four folders: Inbox, Unread Email, For Follow Up
and Sent Items.

What do I need to do to have my favorites remain in the Favorites Folder
list when I close and reopen Outlook.

Creting a new profile has solved the problem.

Thanks for your help,
Phil

Great advice Diane, I've been trying to solve this for months. I needed to
re import all my files and folders from the old PST file but it's working
superbly.

Never import from a PST. It's not necessary and it loses data.

I tried both suggestions, but my favorites still get corrupted often.
Typically I see:

- some favorites are lost
- favorites from other item types appear in wrong list (favorite tasks
appear in email favorites along with email favorites)

Seems to happen if I logout while Outlook is communicating with Exchange
server. I've changed my send/receive settings to not sync when exiting, but
Outlook doesn't seem to really quit even when I exit the program (the outlook
icon still appears in my notification area).

I don't believe so - my profile settings are stored on my C drive (I assume
that would not be the case if I had a roaming profile)?

(I'm using XP Pro SP2/Outlook 2003 SP2)

Thanks

Dear Diane:

I’ve read carefully all your comments regarding this bug with Favorite
folders… sadly until now I was unable to solve the problem:
I’ve been deleting the .xml file over and over and every time I restart
Outlook, just the default folders appear on the favorite folder area…

I hope you can give me some solution
Regards,

Gabriel

I have been having the same problem for a few weeks. I have also noticed
that if an IMAP folder that is in my favorites suddenly moves (to
"contacts"
for example) or disappears, the link to the mail folder also disappears
and I
cannot read mail without deleting the item from the favorites folder and
restarting. I am not using an exchange server or logging on to a network
so
no raoming profile either. The items can even disappear without closing
outlook, just by minimizing. Any help would be appreciated.
