I get an error message that I don't have enough memory, every time I try to
delete something. Also closes IE.

Barb,

not sure what your problem is, please be more descriptive when you post

what application are you using?
is the error in a message box or log file?
is it only on deleting specific files or all files?

we cannot see what you are doing, or look upon your screen, so be as
complete as possible when describing your problem

rgds,
Edwin.

Edwin,
Thank you for your response. I appreciate the help.
I think what started my problem is, I downloaded quite a few song from
BearShare (Peer to Peer). I also just resently got a Coby MP3 player and was
dragging the song in Windows Explorer to the player with a USB connection.
Everything was working fine. In MusicMatch when I was playing some of the
songs that I had in my playlist, I noticed "broken link" and the song
wouldn't play when it had previously played.
When I logged out & logged back in the next time and was trying to move
files in Windows Explorer or I tried to delete 2 shortcuts I didn't need. I
got and error box that I could be deleted because I didn't have enough
memory. Then the next error was that Internet Explorer had encounter an error
and needed to close.
I thought at 1st maybe I picked up something from P2P. I ran Norton
antivirus, A-Squared, & Adware and deleted some cookies, but found nothing
major might be a problem. I was able to go into add/remove programs and
uninstalled MusicMatch in case it was the problem. I also ran Windoc in
Norton to correct Windows problems.
The "fault bucket 188592809" was from the error log.
Prior to this I have been having a little trouble with programs loading.
But I suspect the memory problem has to do with downloading the songs. I
have 2 hard drives. My OS (Windows XP Home) is on "C". The music downloads
and on "D". My "C" hard drive is probably 10% full. "D" is probably about
60%. So I don't really understand the not enough memory error message.
I know this is alot. I'm trying not to reload the OS again. It came with my
computer and it will erase all the programs I have added and take it back to
the way it was when I bought it.
Thank you,
Barb

Barb,

I dont think the "memory problem" has anything to do with how full your
disks are.

You say that teh "fault bucket ...." message is from "the error log"

what error log ? from what application ?

when this happens, how many and what applications or windows are
open/running ?

thanks,
Edwin.

Edwin,
The error log was thru: control panel, admin tools, event viewer, then I
went thru the errors logged.

Some times the computer freezes up on boot up when just the start up
programs are loading. It seems like if an application doesn't open and the
system crashes I don't have shut down thru Start Menu. So I have to push the
on-off switch on the monitor to shut down. After I wait awhile and restart
the computer, several Internet Explorers will open in the back ground. I
found this out by having Task Manager open on boot up. I also get the error
quite a bit that Internet Explorer has encounter a problem and needs to close.

I'm getting to the point where I'm considering just doing a clean install.
The problem is the OS(Windows XP Home) that came with the computer takes it
back to the original applications the store loaded. I'm not sure how to make
sure I don't lose things I have. I have 2 hard drives, so I have tried to put
downloades and files on the hard drive separated from the OS. But I'm sure I
missed some thing and now I can't move or copy anything.

Thank you,
Barb

Barb,

you say "several Internet Explorers will open in the back ground"

which indicates that you are probably invested with either virusses or
malware/spyware (or both)

I would like to recommend that you clean your system with an (up-to-date)
virus scanner and spyware remover

rgds,
Edwin.

Edwin,
That is a good suggestion, but it hasn't work. My normal process now is when
I log in I run WinDoc in Norton Utilities to correct any errors. There are 17
errors that I'm not able to correct automatically. I have tried doing it
manually, but I don't know enough to do it. Some of them are missing links to
programs I don't use very often. I can post some of them if you would be able
to help with that?

I also run "A Squared" which is a malware program, Aware, & Norton
Antivirus. I never find a virus. Every couple days I will have some tracking
cookies I deleted.
