Fatal system errors when booting up

Recently when booting up I have frequently but not always get the
following message before getting to the login screen:

"STOP: c000021z {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with
a status of
f0x00000402 (0x00000000 0x00000000)
The system has been shut down."

What are the common causes of this?

No c000021z listed at M$.
But there is a c000021a.

Have you had a look in your Event Viewer for problems ?.

Bad power supply, bad RAM, bad hard drive, bad mainboard. (in that
rder) -Dave
