Fatal Execution Engine Error... please help?!

Running Windows XP Home Ed.

Am not able to run certain programs previously able. Am receiving fatal
error message stating:

"Fatal Execution Engine Error (0x7987e03e)"

I have re-installed said programs 3-4 times. Re-booted several times. Have
run debugging, spybot, etc. Also have purchased Registry Mechanic and run to
no avail.

ANY HELP SINCERELY APPRECTIATED!

Doesnt sound like a windows application,however,try event viewer for
more specific details.You might also try following the directions listed in
kb310560 Thats where microsoft techs start....
