fatal error on setup

when installing windows xp pro i get to the windows
instal screen when a window pops up and says fatal error

d:/1386/asms parameter incorrect
then it wont allow me to go any further

any help would be great
 
Try installing xp cd,restart computer,boot to cd,select,install xp,new copy.
