Fatal Error 1606

I'm getting the following error message when I try to
install or uninstall programs. I just recently upgraded
to XP from ME.

Fatal Error 1606 Could not access network location
"::\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop

I've checked the Knowledge base and found a similar
problem regarding Administrative Tools when installing Xp
Plus. I have not installed Plus.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello!

Click Start > Run> regedit >ok

Locate and click (highlight) the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVers ion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

In the right pane of the Registry Editor window,

double-click Common Administrative Tools.

In the Value data box of the Edit String dialog box that

appears, type the following line, and then click OK:

%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools

On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.

Hi!

Thank you for your reply! I have tried your suggestion
but did not have a key for Common Adminstrative Tools. I
tried adding it but that didn't work either. The same
error message came up pointing toward the Admistrative
Tools.
