Faster Access to Quick Launch Toolbar?

C

Chad Harris

I've parked way too many shortcuts on the quick launch toolbar and it takes
a while for it to open. The conventional remedy for this would be delete or
drag items off. Is there any folder though, that would have access to the
whole quick launch toolbar that I could then drag to the desktop or
somewhere else as a shortcut to all of them?

I know that it could be dragged to the desktop, with all the shortcuts
showing or accessible, but I'm looking for one folder that holds these
shortcuts. Is there any such thing, and if so where would it be located.
Also is there any regedit or regedits, scripts or tweaks that would speed
it's opening up? Is there any command that could be put in the run box or
command prompt that would open up a folder for quick launch toolbar
shortcuts?

TIA,

Chad Harris

Try right-clicking, then dragging and dropping to the desktop, the folder
"C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch", where <USERNAME> is the name of your profile.

Bingo Frank; I was poking around and missing it. One question. I've found
the *quick launch folder* in two distinct file paths/locations. Any
preference?--seems to be the same folder. The one you named and also I
found these. Do you know the significance of the 3 other folders with
..000,.001, and .002 in their file paths? Are they normal default or did I
make them somehow?

C:\Documents and Settings\Adminstrator.Computer Name\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
C:\Documents and Settings\Adminstrator.Computer Name.000\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
C:\Documents and Settings\Adminstrator.Computer Name.001\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
C:\Documents and Settings\Adminstrator.Computer Name.002\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Thanks very much. It will be a time saver.

*That's very helpful.* I didn't know that existed. I've right clicked on
it before but it didn't come up because I had the quick launch toolbar
squeezed too small. To bring the right click menu up you might have to
drag the quick launch a little. I notice that when I bring the quick launch
up the "regular way" by left clicking those arrow tip pointers, that it
doesn't show all of the items--it leaves the last few off (from T's to Z's
alphabetically)--any reason for this? I know it probably has to do with
overload.
