Fast User Switching reboots PC instead of switching

Steve

Hi All - I hope someone can help me with this annoying
problem. I'm using an XP Pro machine with SP1. Until
today, I had been able to use Fast User Switching between
the 2 accounts on the PC. However, now whenever I try
this, the PC reboots :(((.

I CAN still get into the other account by logging off
first and then choosing the other account as normal

I've tried it from the other account and tried to switch.
I have also tried to create a new account. In all
situations the PC reboots rather than switches accounts

Any ideas anyone

Thanks

Steve

Hi,

QUESTION:
===========
Fast User Switching between the 2 accountS REBOOTS the PC.

SOLUTION: (Logon as Administrator or a user with Administrative rights)
==========
Looks like your fast user switching is turned off. Log off all the users
and Logon as Administrator or a user with Administrative rights.

1. Click Start -> Control Panel
2. Click user accounts and from "Pick a task....", select "Change the way
users log on and off"
3. If "Offline Files" is enabled then follow as below:
a. A message prompts with the following message:
Fast User Switching cannot be used because Offline Files is
currently enabled. To make changes to Offline Files settings, click OK.
b. Select OK and this opens the "Offline File Settings"
c. Deselect the Check box "Enable Offline files"
d. Click OK
e. Again from "Pick a task....", select "Change the way users log on
and off"
f. Proceed to step 5
4. If "Offline Files" is not enabled you would not get a dialog box
5. Check the checkbox for "Use Fast User Switching"
6. Now click Start -> Log Off -> Switch User

Hope this helps ...... :)
