Fast User Switching Fails After XP Professional Update

Fast user switching was working fine with XP professional SP2 until I did
some updates to XP from the update web site. Although "Use Welcome Screen"
and "Use Fast User Switching" are checked, I can't switch between users
unless I actually log off. Any ideas? I read other posts, but found nothing
that helps.

I am having the same problem. Any help appreciated. I have fast user
switching and the welcome screen enabled but when I try to switch users the
system just hangs on the welcome screen. If I press Ctrl-Alt-Del at that
point it lets me back in but the task manger window will be open.

Thanks, but my issue is different. When I select "switch user" I'm returned
to the Welcome screen. Yet when I click on another user, I pop away for a
second but come back to the Welcome screen. This continues unless I actually
log-off, rather than switch users.
