I need a scanner to scan large amount of filled forms. Could some one
suggest tyo buy a scanner to scan these large quantity of documents
with considerable time giving maximum 8 bit gray scale output. The
scaner no need to have document feeding and color image output etc.

These are readily available -- all the major manufacturers have them - and a
minute searching will urn up dozens of them. However, expect to pay $000s,
as they are for commercial use. If you want minimum time you will need
document feeding, otherwise it's going to be a labour-intensive chore. .

Consider looking to ebay in order to find a scanner that fits you
price range.
I would also suggest you get a scanner that will do 8.5" x 17"
(inches, Legal Form). I use the HP 7400 series. The 7450 comes with
the ADF and the 7400 without. It has a USB 1.0 and SCSI interface.
It's discontinued but you can find them on Ebay as close out pricing.

Legal size is 8.5" X 14" not 8.5" X 17"

You are correct. That is the size I would suggest for any document scanner.
