Looking for Document scanner $300. range

Hi,new to this group. I'm been trying to find a $300. or less dual side,
single pass scanner for documents & checks that I scan. This scanner is for
personal use at home. So I really don't need fast scanning or multi page
scanning. But would like if possible to be sheet feed. I have a CanoScan
5000f which work great, but it gets to be real time comsuming when I have to
scan in the monthly checks that are written in a month. So can anybody
recommend a good, cheap, dual side, single pass, sheet-feed scanner.

Thank you Ray

I've been very pleased with my HP 5590. Although the driver is a little
retarded, the machine works very well. I regularly scan documents and the
sheet feeder works nice.

Thanks, I was looking at that scanner but wasn't sure how it scan both
sides. Does it scan both side at one pass or do you have to flip the paper
over. Also could you load the paper holder with 50 sheets & then scan each
one separately instead of scanning to one file. When I scan checks I scan
them each by themselves & file name them by check #. So could I place the
checks in & then scan each one or do I have to load each one separated when
I scan.

It is a full-duplex scanner, although if you're set to scan anything but
text, it's pretty slow.
You cannot scan one page from a stack in the feeder. But you can set it to
ask for more pages when it's done scanning the current stack.
So you would need to load each check separately, or scan them as a group to
pdf, then split the pdf file into separate pages..
